Ready to tackle complex fish and wildlife issues related to Caltrans' transportation projects? Do you have extensive knowledge of California's environmental laws and regulations? If so, consider applying for the statewide Caltrans coordinator in CDFW's headquarters office in West Sacramento minutes away from Sutter Health Park with minor and major league baseball. This position facilitates statewide coordination for transportation related topics; coordinates headquarters program support for regional liaisons, tracks and reports on Caltrans mitigation compliance, and participates on interagency teams with Caltrans to implement legislative mandates (i.e., AB-1282 Transportation Permitting Task Force recommendations, fish passage barriers, and wildlife connectivity.) This position is responsible for managing the contract between CDFW and Caltrans for environmental review and ensuring compliance with the contract and state law. This position also coordinates with CDFW regions, wildlife and fisheries branches, and conservation engineering to facilitate a statewide consistent approach to environmental permitting and mitigation.

This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day; i.e., working at a computer most of the time. Attend virtual and in-person meetings, conduct presentations, and work with statewide scientific staff to complete assignments. Occasional overnight travel, up to 3 % regional office visits and field work may be required.

Familiar with CDFW's lead, responsible, and trustee agency roles related to CEQA. Familiar with state and federal permitting procedures. Must be knowledgeable and familiar with California's fish and wildlife species and they habitats they rely on. Working knowledge of transportation construction projects and the minimization measures included to avoid or lessen impacts that may affect resources that CDFW holds in trust for the California public. Applicant should posses working knowledge of mitigation options available to compensate for impacts to fish and wildlife.
